Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from parents about our program
Is this program really free?
Yes! There is absolutely no cost to participate. The program is funded through donations and church support. All materials, instruction, and activities are provided at no charge to families.
How is this legal in public schools?
Our program is based on the 1952 Supreme Court ruling that allows "released-time" religious instruction during school hours as long as it takes place off school grounds. This is completely legal and has been practiced across the nation for over 70 years.
What if my child misses regular class time?
Classes are scheduled during encore times (like art, music, or PE) so students don't miss core academic subjects. We work closely with schools to ensure minimal impact on regular education.
What denomination teaches the class?
Classes are held at and supported by churches of Christ, however our curriculum is non-doctrinal. While rooted in biblical principles, the focus is on character development and moral values that benefit all children regardless of religious preference.
How do I enroll my child?
Enrollment is simple and free! You can enroll online at starlightbibleacademy.com, call us at (931) 526-5427, or visit us at Sycamore Church of Christ. Parent permission is required for participation.
